FAQ
Here is a list of some common questions that we get in regards to booking weddings with Botega.
WEDDING CONTRACT // CANCelation POLICY
Do you take a deposit?
Following your enquiry, a reservation form will be provided for your selected date. Note that your date is not secured until the completed form has been returned to us.
A 50% deposit for all reserved services will be required four weeks prior to the wedding. At this stage, all services must be finalised. Once the deposit has been received, it is strictly non-refundable in the event of cancellation. Cancellations made within 48 hours of the scheduled event will incur the full service fee (100%).
All services confirmed at the four-week mark are considered final and cannot be amended, reduced, or removed. Should any individual service or booking be cancelled after this time—including on the day of the event—the corresponding deposit for that service will be forfeited.
To formally secure your date, please review, complete, and return the wedding contract. Please note that your booking will only be confirmed upon receipt of the completed form.
How long do the services take?
We like to dedicate extra time to the bride, so bridal hair & make up services usually take closer to 90 minutes each.
For all attendee’s hair and make-up appointments service times vary, but typically average around 45 minutes to 1 hour per person. In total, hair and makeup for the bride generally require about 3 hours, and for bridesmaids and attendees 2 hours.
If you have really long or thick hair, or are looking for a Hollywood wave, or have guests using hair extensions please let us know in advance so we can allow for more time.
Do you travel to hotels?
Yes, we do offer on-site services at hotels! While we prefer to work from our downtown Banff location, we are happy to travel to locations from Emerald Lake Lodge to Canmore. Please note that travel fees per artist apply for all on-location services, with pricing varying based on the destination. Parking fees may also be added to the invoice for Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise, Fairmont Banff Springs, The Rimrock Hotel and some locations in Canmore.
** Please note your ‘appointment reminders’ will say you have an appointment scheduled at the salon, if we have agreed to come to your hotel then we will be coming there, we just cannot change the location on our booking system*
When we’re providing on-site services, there are a few things we’ll need from you. For hair, we require adequate space in your hotel room, including a dining chair and a table near an electrical outlet. For makeup, we need a space with natural light, ideally by a window, along with a table and an electrical outlet for a ring light if necessary. It’s also helpful if you can arrange for a bar stool to be brought to the room if one isn’t already available.
Can I request specific artists?
You are most welcome to request specific artists for your wedding day. We will do our utmost to accommodate all requests, subject to the stylist’s availability. Please let us know
your preferences in your emails. If no preference is indicated, we will allocate stylists based on their schedules to ensure the smoothest and most seamless experience for your day.
How far in advance should I finish before my ceremony starts?
We recommend that all hair and makeup services are completed at least one hour prior to your ceremony. This allows ample time to relax, get dressed, and capture those special pre-ceremony moments with your photographer.
For larger bridal parties, we gently suggest that the bride is not scheduled last for services. Being ready ahead of the photographer’s arrival ensures you can begin portraits on time, even if the schedule runs slightly behind (although we always strive to maintain perfect timing). Additionally, the final hours before your ceremony tend to bring increased activity and interruptions, which can take away from what should be a calm and enjoyable experience. We are happy to coordinate with your photographer our timings so we can all help to make the day run as smoothly as possible!
Do I have to bring anything for hair and makeup?
We provide all essential tools and products required for your hair and makeup services, including pins, styling products, and cosmetics. The only items not supplied are hair extensions, veils, and decorative accessories, so we kindly ask that you have these prepared and available on the day. We kindly ask that all members of the bridal party having hair or makeup services come prepared with inspiration photos. Bringing reference images helps us understand your vision and ensures we create the perfect look tailored to each individual.
If you have any preferred products that you would like us to use, you are most welcome to bring them along. For clients with sensitivities or allergies, we recommend bringing products you know and trust to ensure your comfort and peace of mind.
Should you be planning to wear hair extensions, please ensure they are freshly washed and fully dried prior to your appointment. Brand new extensions often carry a coating that can prevent effective styling, while unwashed extensions may not hold a curl as desired. For best results, we recommend investing in 100% human hair extensions. Trusted clip-in brands we suggest include Philocaly, Babe, and Bombay Hair.
Are the prices subject to increase?
All quoted pricing is subject to adjustment on the day to reflect the final services provided.
Each service is carefully scheduled to ensure a seamless and timely experience. For on-location bookings, we kindly ask that all members of the bridal party are ready upon our arrival. Should delays occur due to lateness or interruptions, and allocated service times are exceeded, additional charges may apply.
At times, we may also run ahead of schedule, so punctuality is greatly appreciated to ensure everything flows effortlessly.
Should I follow the schedule that I see booked within the salon booking system or create my own?
Our booking system is designed to secure all requested services; however, a strict run sheet is not assigned in advance. Should you or your planner prefer a detailed schedule, we are more than happy to follow a pre-arranged run sheet provided to us ahead of time, as long as it flows with our timings provided.
With the exception of the bride’s hair appointment, which is allocated 90 minutes, most services are performed within a 45–60 minute timeframe and are scheduled accordingly on the day.
To ensure a seamless and timely experience, all members of the bridal party are expected to be ready for their allocated time. Delays, including indecision around service order, may impact the overall schedule and flow of the morning.
If you are planning a first look, this must be communicated in advance so we can ensure your services are completed accordingly. We also ask that the order of services is discussed within your party prior to the day, and that guests are directed to us promptly as we progress through the schedule.
When should I book my trial?
We recommend scheduling your trial as close to your wedding day as possible—ideally 10 days to 2 weeks prior—so we can capture the freshest look for your big day. That said, we understand that many of our clients are visiting from afar, and as a destination wedding location, you are welcome to schedule your trial whenever best suits your travel plans.
The trial is your time to play, experiment, and explore your vision. Hair trials are generously allocated 2 hours, allowing us to try 2 styles, while makeup trials are 1.5 hours to fine-tune your ideal look. Inspiration images are essential, so please bring anything that sparks your imagination—along with extensions, veils, or decorative hair accessories you plan to wear.
Please note that trials are designed to guide the final look and may not be perfectly executed that day—they are a creative experiment, not an exact replica. On your wedding day, we will refine and tweak your trial looks to create a more polished and flawless version, tailored to the unique energy, lighting, and magic of your special day. Small differences are part of the bespoke experience of being you on your most unforgettable day.
If you are using your trial for an engagement shoot please let us know ahead of time if you can!
How should we prepare our hair and skin for the appointments?
Hair Preparation: Clean, Dry, and Ready
Please arrive on the morning of your wedding with clean, fully dry hair that has been brushed through. Depending on your hair type, you may choose to wash the day before or the morning of—hair should be no more than one day old. This is crucial, as oily or unwashed hair does not style well, and using heat tools on unclean hair can cause damage.
If your hair is not completely dry, an additional fee may apply.
For a blowout, please arrive with freshly washed, towel-dried damp hair.
For natural curls, diffuse or air-dry your hair within the same timeframe.
To avoid unwanted creases, please do not arrive with braids, ponytails, or buns.
Please use minimal product after washing—only heat protection or lightweight anti-frizz products if needed. All other styling products will be provided and carefully selected during your appointment to achieve a long-lasting, flawless look. While your hair may feel slightly more product-heavy than usual, rest assured it will never feel sticky—every product is chosen to ensure your style stays perfect throughout your day.
Makeup Preparation
Please arrive with clean, bare skin—no makeup. You may apply moisturizer and lip balm if needed. We recommend boosting your skincare routine in the month leading up to your wedding and drinking plenty of water to ensure your skin is healthy, radiant, and ready for makeup application.
Can we bring in "orange juice" to the salon?
If you choose to have your bridal party in the salon with you, we can accommodate everyone comfortably. We are happy to provide glasses for any “orange juice” or morning refreshments you may wish to enjoy. Additionally, wild flour coffee shop is conveniently located just across the courtyard from us, should you or your party wish to grab a specialty coffee or light snack.
Do you offer discounts for larger parties? or packages?
Unfortunately, we do not offer discounts, as all services are individually priced to reflect the bespoke care and attention each client receives.
If you would like an artist to remain on location for touch-ups between the ceremony, photos, and reception—or if you would like a second look for the reception—please don’t hesitate to enquire.
